If the shootout didn’t exist: 11-9-9, 31 pts, 6th in the Eastern Conference, 2nd in the Atlantic.
Second in the Atlantic may make it sound like it’s not much of a difference, but consider the other teams in the division:

A Flyers team that can’t seem to play defense (74 GA in 24 games)

Far less impressive.

It’s bad when you’re not happy with a win (even if it is in the form of a shootout, which I think they play for in OT nowadays), but for now, with most of the team in a serious offensive rut, I’ll take it. It’s always satisfying to see them come from behind, and who can complain after the Staal hit on Crosby, really…
