Burnside: Over/Under on Gaborik: 15 Games

How many games do you think Marian Gaborik will play before his first stint on the IR? Ten games? Thirty games? Fifty games? Scott Burnside of ESPN thinks it is just 15 games.

7. In the end, who will be the bigger disappointment on Broadway, new Ranger Marian Gaborik, he of the frequent groin injury, or Scott Gomez, peddled to Montreal to make way for Gaborik this summer? Maybe the better question is, what is the over/under on the number of games Gaborik plays before his first prolonged stint on the injury shelf? We say 15.

I’m as worried as the next person about Gaborik’s injury history, but that is apparently behind him. The same doctor who performed his hip surgeries also performed Michal Rozsival’s hip surgery and Alex Rodriguez’s hip surgery, so it’s not like some bum cut him open. I believe everyone needs to be cautiously optimistic, and give the guy the benefit of the doubt. The season hasn’t even started yet and people are already fearing the worst for the expensive winger.

I know news is slow guys, but breathe a little. Maybe the Zherdev saga and the eventual Dubinsky signing will keep your minds off this for a while.
