Like I said after seeing the trade to the Debbies...bs.

No way waddell asked for what he did of the rangers and get such a small amount from the devils. what they got would be like asking for Lisin, Weise, Girardi, Sanguinetti and a first round draft pick.

So I stand by it, BS from Brooksie.

I do that deal if they take either a top Draft pick or a top prospect, not both, and if they substitute a top defensive prospect in the place of either Staal or Del Zotto, i.e. Sanguinetti, or McDonough. You have to try to get one of the elite players in the league. Plus, Dubinsky and Callahan are not going to be much more than they are now. Even if they turn into 30 Goal scorers, Kovalchuk is still better than they are or will be. All this is provided they can sign him, if they can't then I dont even make an offer.

Trade them all for Kovalchuk. But keep Gaborik and Lundqvist.

Rangers have enough cap room to take on the equivalent of $1.2 million in full season salary. The difference here is $900k. Numbers work. Players don't.

Or the numbers work, according to Dave, who knows more about the cap as evidenced by his Understanding The Cap writeup than I'll ever know.

Either way, too steep, haha.

Well it's not necessarily bs.

The deal obviously is a no-go for the reported price both because it's way too steep a price and because the numbers don't work.

But it's not total bs because it is likely to be Waddell's starting point for discussion. Just like Sather's is probably something like "Gilroy, Rozsival, Lisin and 1st Rounder".

For Kovi you're talking atleast a $9 mil salary over the next half decade. That alone is a huge price, especially when you have Drury, Redden, and Rozsival on this team. Add to that 2 young solid players, a prospect and a pick, that's insane for the Rangers. But some other team may be willing to make such a deal.

I call BS on the whole story...cap doesn't even work with that.

Kovy is 6.4 cap hit.
Dubinsky 1.8
Callahan 2.3
DelZotto 1.0
Staal .8

According to nhl numbers we don't have that much cap left.

fair play. Waddell is a mental case. He wants one of two of the better young defencemen in the league, one of two very good youn roster players, one of two top end prospects and a potential top 15 draft pick? im pretty sure he's either nuts or pricing Kovy out of certain markets. Considering Atlanta are still in the playoff hunt its in DW's interest that IF (when) Kovy gets moved he goes west.

Waddell must be insane to ask for that without letting teams negotiate extensions....
