Game 78: Rangers at Sabres

Another day, another must win game.

OPPONENT: Sabres

RECORD: 43-24-10

LEADING SCORER: Tim Connolly, 17-48-65

GOALIE: Ryan Miller, 2.23 GAA and a .930 save percentage

RANGERS LINES:

Brandon Dubinsky-Erik Christensen-Marian Gaborik
Vinny Prospal-Olli Jokinen-P.A. Parenteau
Aaron Voros-Chris Drury-Ryan Callahan
Jody Shelley-Artem Anisimov-Brandon Prust

Callahan is expected to play. If he doesn’t, Dale Weise will play. Hank in net.

STATE OF THE BLUESHIRTS: Not bad. Couple of impressive wins in a row. They’re on the cusp. They’re so close. As long as they keep winning, good things will happen. They’ll need a strong effort against Buffalo. They aren’t going to let you come back like Florida did. Full, 60 minute effort. Great games by Hank, Gabby. Let’s do it.

CRAZY THOUGHT: Prust scores again

ON THE iPOD: Livin’ In The Future, Bruce Springsteen

FINAL PREDICTION: Rangers 3, Sabres 1

So, watch, discuss, have fun. LET’S GO RANGERS!!!

This is another one of those biggest game of the year type games.

  • By Dave, April 6, 2010 @ 7:10 pm

    Holy crap what a save.

  • By Jeremy, April 6, 2010 @ 7:23 pm

I’d just like to say, that my crazy thoughts have been eerily accurate lately. I also won the BSB bracket. So yeah

    Dave Reply:

    Did you pick Duke?

    Jeremy Reply:

Sadly, no. Picked Kansas. But, had WVU and Duke in Final 4. We should all stick to hockey

    Dave Reply:

If WVU beat Duke, I would have won three pools. WVU was my only Final Four team. I feel like everyone’s brackets were just terrible.

    Jeremy Reply:

Oh, so were mine. The BSB pool had 10 people in it. Only reason why I won

    Dave Reply:

I came in last place in three pools, and third place in three pools. Weird.

    Dave Reply:

But hey, congrats on the win!

    Jeremy Reply:

    Thanks!

    RE-SIGN BRANDON PRUST!

but how many times does Roszival need to clear prior to the pen?!?!

    Dave Reply:

He has more goals than Redden. Scary.

    Jeremy Reply:

Chris Higgins has 8. Prust has 5. Higgins was supposed to score 20. Prust wasn’t supposed to score. I rest my case

    Dave Reply:

I have no idea what happened to Higgins. I have never seen someone take so many shots and hit so many posts. I felt bad for him.

    jurgenno88 Reply:

scary but its because of effort hustle and will. Things Redden doesnt excel in.

    Dave Reply:

That’s a bit unfair. Redden plays hard every game. He’s just not good anymore.

    jurgenno88 Reply:

maybe its his nature but he looks sometimes like he coasts

  • By Dave, April 6, 2010 @ 7:36 pm

    Weak, weak goal.

  • By jurgenno88, April 6, 2010 @ 7:38 pm

    where’s Gaborik?!

    Dave Reply:

Doesn’t matter, we got Parenteau! Where the hell did this guy come from? He wasn’t this good last time he was called up.

  • By jurgenno88, April 6, 2010 @ 7:43 pm

nice one PA! keep showing you belong! potentially huge goal with Flyers winning

  • By Dave, April 6, 2010 @ 7:54 pm

So, two of the top three goalies in the league, and there were four goals in the first period. Figures.

  • By Dave, April 6, 2010 @ 7:58 pm

Haven’t had a 20+ comment game post in a while. Sweet.

  • By Jeremy, April 6, 2010 @ 8:11 pm

Whoa. Auld in. I know he gave up another goal, but WTF Torts?

    Dave Reply:

Hank gave up 1.5 weak goals, can’t afford to do that in a playoff race.

I say 1.5 because one was very weak, and the one (the third) was borderline weak.

  • By Dave, April 6, 2010 @ 8:18 pm

What an unbelievable save by Miller.

  • By Dave, April 6, 2010 @ 8:27 pm

Game, set, match. Rangers aren’t getting four on Miller.
