Rangers Re-sign Byers
The Rangers have agreed to terms with restricted free agent Dane Byers. Byers, 24, captained the Hartford Wolfpack last season, and played five games with the Rangers, netting a goal and 31 PIMs. In 74 games in Hartford, Byers put up a line of 25-26-51 with 100 PIMS.
Byers previous contract was a one year, two-way deal which paid him $500,000 in the NHL (the league minimum), and $80,000 in the AHL.
Terms of the new deal have not been disclosed.

Great news. I’d love to know how much and for how long; but I have to assume its 750k for no more than 2 years. Wonder if Byers accepted a two way deal or if its 1 way? that’d be telling…
I hope this gives him a strong chance for a roster spot, i think he can bring alot to this team. I’d love to see a line of Weise – Prust – Byers, though if Prust isnt strong enough up the middle then maybe mix it up a bit.

I’d assume that Sather is going to look to trade The People’s Champ since Byers will be considerably cheaper.
