Rangers Sign Jeremy Williams

The Rangers have come to terms with forward Jeremy Williams, of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Williams, 26, spent last year in the AHL, and has bounced around between the NHL and the AHL throughout his career. In his 31 NHL games, Williams has a line of 9-2-11 with 6 PIMS. The 5’11 188 lb winger, who was selected in the 7th round (#220 overall) of the 2003 draft by the Leafs, is probably going to serve as a depth winger in Hartford.

Nice signing. Makes Hartford better, replaces one of Locke or Parenteau to an extent and the kid has NHL talent. I wonder why he never stuck in the NHL? Defensive issues? Work ethic? Positioning? I have seen him live a few times for the Toronto Marlies and he owns a lethal shot.
I think he was the first ever player to score on his first 2 NHL shots – though these were over 2 seasons.

Some guys are just journeymen. He’s one of them.

agreed ref the journeyman tag but its the right kind of minor league signing. He’s still young enough to potentially develop and if he doesnt (and prob wont) then so be it. He’s no ECHL lifer but a guy that has tasted the NHL so he makes the AHL club a little better.
