Versus Has 11 Ranger Games

Versus has released their television schedule for the upcoming season, and the Rangers appear to be their biggest ratings getter, as the Blueshirts will be broadcast on Versus 11 times. The following games are on Versus:

10/18 vs. Colorado
11/9 vs. Washington
11/17 vs. Boston
12/15 at Pittsburgh
1/24 at Washington
2/1 vs. Pittsburgh
2/7 at Detroit
3/1 vs. Buffalo
3/30 at Buffalo
4/4 vs. Boston
4/7 vs. Atlanta

It looks like Versus is trying to capitalize on what looks to be a big race for the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference, with the Rangers playing both Boston and Atlanta on Versus, which will surely be playoff caliber games. Other teams on Versus regularly include Washington (11), Chicago (11), Detroit (11), Pittsburgh (10), and Philadelphia (9).

    Here’s my prediction for the eastern conference;

    1. Capitals
    2. Flyers
    3. Bruins
    4. Penguins
    5. Devils
    6. Canadiens
    7. Sabres
    8. Rangers
    9. Thrashers
    10. Panthers
    11. Lighting
    12. Senators
    13. Hurricanes
    14. Islanders
    15. Leafs

    Explanation;

    6. Canadiens; A healthy Markov for a full year and a second year of chemistry building for the newly united (and reunited) top 4 O men should bode well for Habs. The pressure will be on Price to fulfill his potential and he should at age 23.

    7. Sabres; If Connolly can’t produce another career year and Vanek flounders again, the offesive will suffer. Changes in D core may cause problems and Miller will be hard pressed to repeat his career year.

    8. Rangers actually have a decent amount of depth offensively with new additions and youth growth, D core intact, Lundqvist should remain consistent.

    9. Thrashers will improve with the new Hawks added although Kane and Little need another to grow. Pressure will be on 34 yr old Mason to play another 60+ games for only the 2nd time in his career.

    10. Panthers lose Horton but will improve with a healthy Booth in the lineup all year and increases in production from youngsters Olesz and Frolik. Wideman should help anchor the D giving Vokoun some relief.

    11. Lighting; St. Louis is aging and Smith is overated and unproven in net. Stamkos is impressive but Moore and Kubina are not enough defensive minded additions to change this team’s mentality to play defense. Smith can’t save them (anything).

    12. Senators; An aging Alfredsson and Kovalev will not get it done for the Sens and Spezza is soft in the middle and lacking leadership ability.
    The shake up on D will not help. Maybe Elliot will have another decent year bailing out Leclaire but I doubt it.

    13. Hurricanes don’t have any support for Staal with the exception of Jokinen. When two or three of your D men play 25+ minutes a game, you are bound to struggle
