Offseason tournament bracket

Offseason tournament bracket

As the dog days of summer approach, it’s going to be relatively quiet around the league. To get through this, Matt Josephs of Blue Line Station came to me with a pretty solid idea: Putting together an NCAA style tournament to see who everyone thinks is the best player to put on a Rangers sweater post-lockout (2005 lockout). Matt came up with the 64 Rangers to use, and I put them in a bracket in Excel. The bracket, pictured above, is set up like an NCAA bracket, and will not be reseeded after each round. If for some reason Olli Jokinen beats out Henrik Lundqvist in the first round, then he will face the winner of the 8/9 matchup, not the top seed left in the bracket.

Each afternoon, we will post one matchup here at BSB, and ask you to vote on who the better Ranger was. Voting will be simple, each post on BSB has a thumbs up or a thumbs down icon at the end. Vote the thumbs up to vote for the higher seed (1 seed is higher than 16 seed), and the thumbs down to vote for the lower seed. Again, the thumbs up is for the higher seed, not the higher number.

We will begin tomorrow with the first matchup in the Tom Renney bracket: Jokinen vs. Lundqvist.

Hope everyone enjoys this, and thanks to Matt at Blue Line Station for coming up with the idea. Be sure to check out Blue Line Station as one of your stops for Ranger blogging.
