One of the more intriguing prospects in the Rangers system is Calle Andersson, an offensive defenseman currently playing in Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan (second tier league). The 19-year-old defenseman is good enough to play in the SHL (top tier Swedish league), but is better served getting the ice time needed for his development in HockeyAllsvenskan. That said, he was suffering from a nagging injury (wrist?) and did not make his 2013 debut until yesterday, notching a powerplay goal in his return. Two other prospects were in action last night as well. See below for their scoring lines from last night.

  • Calle Andersson (Malmö, HockeyAllsvenskan; W 4-3): 1 G, 0 A, 0 PIM, Even
  • Troy Donnay (Erie Otters, OHL; W 2-1): 0 G, 0 A, 7 PIM, Even
  • MacKenzie Skapski (Kootenay, WHL: L 6-3): 40 Shots faced, 35 Saves, 5 GA
