March is one of the best months for sports: baseball is starting, hockey is entering that final, desperate push for the playoffs, and the NCAA Tournament is in full swing.
I took off from work today and tomorrow to watch the games, and I don’t think I will be disappointed. My Final Four? Pitt, UNC, Mich. St, Memphis, with Memphis over Pitt in the finals. Other notable picks: Utah St in the Sweet 16, N. Iowa over Purdue, UCLA in the Elite Eight, and W. Kent over Illinois.
It’s an off day, so this is my only post of the day. Go watch some games.

TSN is reporting that Rangers GM Glen Sather posted Peter Pocklington’s $1 million bail on Friday. The charges against Pocklington? Bankruptcy fraud.
Pocklington, who owned the Edmonton Oilers while Sather was coach of the team, filed for bankruptcy in August 2008, citing $20 million in debt. A large disparity by investigators prompted further investigation against Pocklington.
I didn’t know coach and owner could be so tight that one would post a $1 million bail for the other. I wonder if this counts against the cap? (Kidding).
Seriously, what is Sather’s salary that he can afford to post $1 million bail?
Ill be out of town this weekend. Mike and Stas will be taking care of the blog until I come back on Sunday.
Have a good weekend.

Everything is quiet on the Rangers front as we are all gearing up for the Super Bowl.
I got Larry Fitzgerald scoring the first touchdown of the game, but the Steelers rolling over the Cards. Defense always wins. I will be rooting for the Cards though, I love me an underdog.
I think I’m a big oh-fer on all my predictions since I started this blog, and you should never count out Kurt Warner in a big game.
As you have probably heard by now, Sam Weinman is leaving his Ranger blogging ways for the greens of GolfDigest.com. I, like pretty much everyone else, have been reading Sam’s blog for a long while, and his blog is what inspired me (that and being incredibly bored at work) to start blogging in the first place. The ever-capable Rick Carpiniello will be taking Sam’s place at LoHud.
Good luck Sam, thanks for everything.

It turns out Mike Richter, probably the most intelligent person to ever put on a Rangers sweater, is re-considering his run at Congress.
Richter has been approached by Democrats about running for the upstate seat being vacated by Senator-designate Kirsten Gillibrand.
We all know how intelligent Richter is. He was a great speaker during his days as a Ranger, and returned to school (Yale) to get his degree in Ethics, Politics, and Economics (EP&E) in 2007.
If Jesse “The Body Mind” Ventura can become governor, then Richter should have no problems being a Congressman. I think he would do quite well actually.
I’m back from my vacation, and I have learned a few things:
1. It is really depressing when you fly from 90 degree weather to 30 degree weather.
2. I get really tan really fast. No, really, I look a different race right now.
3. Getting a total of 15 hours of sleep over 7 days is really not the smartest thing to do.
4. You only win at the craps table when it’s crowded.
5. I like losing at craps.
6. Cruises really are the best vacation you can take, I highly recommend them.
7. For some unknown reason, I did not have cell service in Aruba, but I had cell service in the middle of the Caribbean with no islands within 200 miles.
8. Duty-Free liquor could possibly be the best deal ever.
9. You really do get offered weed twice an hour on any Caribbean island, it’s not just Jamaica.
10. The new JetBlue terminal at JFK is great.
11. New terminal, same painfully slow baggage claim.
12. All Hail Petr Prucha!
I would like to thank Mike Axisa from River Ave. Blues for looking after the site while I was gone. He did a fantastic job. If you haven’t heard of River Ave Blues, it’s the top Yankee blog out there. Check it out.
Update: For some unknown reason, whenever I post something, it comes up as a post from Mike. I’m trying to figure out why.
Update: Problem solved.
Dave will back soon, but you’re still stuck with me for another few days. I won’t be around tonight or tomorrow, so I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe New Years.
See you in ’09!
I’m going on vacation, and won’t be back until 2009. Mike, from River Ave. Blues, will be covering for me while I’m gone.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year.
