Rangers Will Not Tender Lisin

Larry Brooks is reporting that the Rangers will not be tendering RW Enver Lisin a qualifying offer. The move makes Lisin an unrestricted free agent on July 1. This move is relatively unsurprising, as Lisin was in coach John Tortorella’s dog house pretty much all year. Lisin, a 2004 2nd round pick, was acquired from Phoenix in exchange for Lauri Korpikoski, the Rangers 1st round pick (#19 overall) in 2004. In his one season with the Rangers, Lisin put up a line of 6-8-14, a -1, and a 0.5 GVT in 57 games.

Sorry for the lack of posting this weekend. There wasn’t much to talk about in Rangerland, and I was in Saratoga and Cooperstown for a bachelor party. Now that I’m back, with my voice and dignity still in Saratoga, there is a little Ranger news to post about, mostly involving the upcoming World Championships.

Enver Lisin, who seems to be having a difficult year on the ice, was cut from Team Russia (s/t to Laurie Carr from Beyond the Blueshirts for breaking this). Lisin was cut a few hours after Team Russia’s last tune up game, a loss to the Czech Republic.

Also, Chad Johnson was named to Team Canada for the World Championships. Mark Messier, the GM of Team Canada, added the young goaltender two days ago. Johnson is the second goaltender on Team Canada.

There is also a little news on the Ryan McDonagh situation, but that requires a whole other post. Expect that one tomorrow. For now, I need to catch up on work, emails, and attempt to find my dignity and voice.

No Lineup Changes for Tomorrow

As per the beat writers on Twitter; Ryan Callahan, Sean Avery and Brian Boyle did not skate at practice today ~~and will not play tonight~~. Also, it looks like coach John Tortorella will be keeping the same lineup as he did against the Islanders, with Matt Gilroy and Enver Lisin being sent to the Prucha Box. So despite playing a combined 15 minutes in the last game, Anders Eriksson and Corey Locke will remain in the lineup ~~tonight~~ tomorrow against Tampa Bay. It is safe to assume the lines will look the same as they did against the Islanders on Tuesday:

Voros-Jokinen- Parenteau
Shelley-Anisimov-Prust

Henrik Lundqvist will be in net ~~today~~tomorrow, for his 800th start in a row.

Gilroy/Lisin Scratched, Cally Out

As per Steve Zipay, Ryan Callahan is out tonight with his leg injury, being replaced in the lineup by the recently called up P.A. Parenteau. The other player called up, Anders Eriksson, will be in the lineup tonight, replacing Matt Gilroy. Gilroy only played 10:05 in the shootout win against New Jersey on Thursday night.

The other minor lineup change for tonight is that Aaron Voros will indeed return tonight, and Enver Lisin will be the additional healthy scratch.

Avery Scratched

Sean Avery will be a healthy scratch tonight. ~~Don’t know who is replacing him in the lineup~~ Enver Lisin is taking Avery’s place. He is not “engaged” enough. Have no idea what that means.

So much for seeing him on the fourth line.

Oh wait, there’s a game tonight. Olli Jokinen and Brandon Prust will be making their Ranger debuts tonight, wearing numbers 12 and 8, respectively. To make room for them in the lineup, Donald Brashear will be scratched again, as will Enver Lisin. Lisin didn’t play poorly in his “return to the lineup” over the past few games. But, dare I say that Aaron Voros has earned his playing time? I do dare. He has, and deserves to be in the lineup.

Kotalik, Brashear Scratched

As per Andrew Gross, Ales Kotalik will be scratched tonight for the third time this season. Kotalik has been even less than I thought he would be, which is tough because I didn’t expect much. Donald Brashear will be a scratch tonight also, and Chad Johnson will make his second start of his career.

Enver Lisin and Aaron Voros, who have been the most common Prucha victims, are getting some playing time at the expense of Brashear and Kotalik. What a fantastic way to spend $4.4 million.

Johnson Back Up; Lisin And Voros Scratched

The Great Goalie Shuffle of 2009 continues: Rangers sent down Matt Zaba and recalled Chad Johnson, according to Andrew Gross. Johnson started last night against Portland, and gave up 4 goals on 29 shots in a 5-2 loss. Gross is also reporting that Enver Lisin and Aaron Voros will be healthy scratches for tonight’s game against Buffalo. We shall see what happens.

Anisimov In, Lisin Out

It looks like Artem Anisimov isn’t feeling any lingering effects from the Matt Cooke cheapshot, as he will be playing tonight in the back-end of the home-and-home.

Enver Lisin, on the other hand, will be a healthy scratch tonight. He played a total of 0:0 in Saturday night’s abomination of a game, and you have to assume that broken foot is really bothering him.
